ST162: Stamped Tank Radiators for Popular GM Vehicles

It’s no doubt that the design, materials, and efficiency of the automotive radiator have changed over the past 100 years. Some of the first cars ever to hit the United States didn’t even have a radiator; by the time Ford and General Motors began developing internal combustion engines (ICE), the radiator became a significant component to help prolong engine life. The first car General Motors built was the 1908 Cadillac Model Thirty, and thus began production of General Motors’ automotive future as we know it today.

Even though the automobile, and the radiator itself, have gone through numerous changes, the one constant that people can’t seem to get enough of is the look of the original radiator. Let’s face it: the radiator isn’t exactly a highlight when it comes to a beautiful car; it’s often hidden behind a grille and shrouded by sheet metal, trim, or a hood. But when that hood is open, it’s the look of the original copper/brass radiator that seems to win people over.

While some prefer the look of the modern aluminum radiators, with squared tanks and a show polish finish, others tend to like those deep grooves on rounded tanks. It’s a look that just seems to win people over when it comes to radiators. And now, Champion Cooling’s new Classic Series Radiator brings back the cool factor from decades past.

Available in Polished Aluminum or our Champion Black Finish, you can’t miss the deep drawn stamped tanks that make the Classic Series stand out. But rather than just throwing a sheet of aluminum into a jig and having a machine stamp out these tanks, Champion takes it a bit further to replicate the look of the original radiator for your classic GM, with various core sizes available.

Classic Series Stamped Tank Radiator for Chevy Blazer, and other GM vehicles
1973 – 1980 Chevrolet Blazer Stamped Tank Radiator in Polished Finish, Black Finish also available.

With an extensive arsenal of original copper/brass radiators from the classic car era in our possession, we painstakingly recreate the look and feel of the factory radiators. Our Classic Series radiators are precision designed in CAD by our own staff here in California, and meticulously developed by our team in Texas, before being sent on to production from our industry partners, who provide parts for OEM manufacturers, such as Ford, Chevrolet, and others.

While other radiator manufacturers use the same dies for each of its radiators, that’s not enough for Champion Cooling. In order to preserve that classic look, we create unique dies to replicate the factory radiator. Our goal is to ensure the Classic Series will look as close as possible to the original radiator installed by the factory, back when your car rolled off the assembly line, and into the showroom.

While our Classic Series radiators have a great look, it goes even deeper than our extensive catalog of original copper/brass radiators. Combine the classic looks with the modern benefits of lightweight aluminum, and the winning combination becomes both form and function for your pride and joy. Furthermore, like all of our aluminum radiators, we use no epoxies; the tanks are TIG welded to the brazed cores; even the filler neck is TIG welded for a secure fit and finish.

Whether you’re restoring a classic, or building a restomod, Champion Cooling has a radiator for your classic. If it’s the OE look of the radiator that appeals to you, then our Classic Series is right up your alley for that winning combination for keeping your ride cool. Remember: all of our radiators are based on core sizes, not just year/make/model, so be sure to get the measurements of your radiator and contact our friendly staff of professionals for your cooling needs, to be sure you get the correct radiator for your application.
